A website turned up mocking Robin. She was already upset, and somewhere in
it she said something about the newer people on the staff: there are a lot
of hangers-on now, you weren’t here at the beginning, so how dare you
criticise me.
Then the image that stuck. Those little people didn’t help build the train.
They just jumped on it.
On the Wrap-Up Show afterwards, Artie, Will and Ralph sit down and work out
exactly who she meant — and all three of them arrive at the same answer.
Will’s verdict: it wasn’t subtle.
Then Artie takes stock of the whole staff and lists everyone who has ever
walked off the show. Fred left the building. Robin locked herself in the
newsroom for half an hour. Jackie left after the roast he was convinced was
a setup. Only two people have never done it.
