Dragon Tiger Gate
Adapted from comic series “Dragon and Tiger Heros” by Wong Yuk-Long
Synopsis
The PremiseThe film follows three young martial artists who form a brotherhood to combat corruption and protect the powerless from triad gangs in Hong Kong. The heroes become targeted by the lethal Luocha Gate, a massive Asian criminal organization, after they intercept a powerful death plaque.
Main Cast & Characters
Donnie Yen as Dragon Wong: An estranged, conflicted martial artist who initially serves as a bodyguard for a triad boss before reconciling with his brother.
Nicholas Tse as Tiger Wong: Dragon’s righteous and hot-headed half-brother who sparks the conflict by accidentally seizing the Luocha death plaque.
Shawn Yue as Turbo Shek: A skilled and brash nunchaku expert who joins the brothers’ fight.
Directed by Wilson Yip (Ip Man) and scored by composer Kenji Kawai, the film is famous for its heavily stylized, comic-book-inspired action sequences. The movie adapts the seminal 1970s Hong Kong manhua Oriental Heroes written by Wong Yuk-long, leaning heavily into wirework and fantasy-style martial arts.
