Bread and Salt is one of the most hyped pizza places in the NYC area, and it’s not even within city limits! Bread and Salt is in Jersey City, which is definitely part of the New York metro area and is arguably the sixth borough. However, Bread and Salt is acclaimed, and many consider it the best pizza in NYC and even better than other icons in NYC.
I decided I had to try it. I went over to try Bread and Salt’s Roman-style pizza, which is more similar to focaccia than typical pizza we all know and love. We also tried the Bread and Salt focaccia, which is also famous, as well as the Bread and Salt mortadella sandwich. The place is a true neighborhood institution, but does it compare to the best pizza spots across the pond? We will find out together and see if New York’s best pizza is actually in New Jersey!
