Alamosa sits just a short drive from Great Sand Dunes National Park, and it’s home to over 50 restaurants and coffee shops. Here’s where we’d point you first.
🍝 @friarsfork for a nice dinner. It’s a James Beard nominated restaurant built into the footprint of the former St. Thomas Episcopal Church, serving Italian and Mediterranean food with a Colorado twist that holds its own against what you’d find in New York or LA. We had the duck confit over mushroom ravioli, chicken marsala, duck wings with orange marmalade, and the most delicious Prosecco and lemon sorbet drink.
🍕 @purplepigpizzeriaalamosaco for a casual meal or a great lunch stop. Wood-fired pizza made to order with homemade dough and scratch-made sauces. We went with the margherita, the pulled pork and Palisade peach pizza, and a four cheese pizza.
🍖 @woodysqshack for award-winning barbecue. Slow-smoked brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and homemade sides.
☕ @theroastcoffee for a caffeine boost. We stopped in twice ourselves for a little pick-me-up.
Save room on your way to the dunes. This tiny town packs a serious culinary punch.
