Most visitors only see the luxury resorts and postcard beaches… but there’s another side of Zanzibar that few people experience.
In this episode, we leave the tourist hotspots behind and walk through the real streets of Nungwi, exploring local neighborhoods, hidden alleys, and everyday life on the island. Along the way we compare the cost of staying in tourist areas vs. local accommodation, talk about transportation in Zanzibar, learn a few Swahili words, meet local Maasai on the beach, and even wander through dark streets after sunset.
This isn’t a guide to the “perfect” Zanzibar. It’s simply what we saw, what we learned, and what it actually felt like to walk around without a plan.
