— Stay in a different part of Bali every 2-3 nights to see the entire island and all the beautiful landmarks, waterfalls, and hikes BECAUSE traveling within Bali is NOT the most seamless with one main road and lots of cars, bikes, and pedestrians, it’ll take hours on hours to travel to/from parts (think 3-4 hours a day sometimes each way)
— Plan to arrive either very early or late into the night. Being in the southern hemisphere, the sun sets around 6-630pm year round. Even though we arrived around 2 PM ish by the time we got to our hotel, it was dark and nighttime. Feels like you lose a whole day!
— Get a SIM card at the airport. It’s the easiest, most reliable, and most affordable source of service.
— Take cash to exchange at the airport. This one depends on where you’re staying, but it’s the easiest and the best rates, especially if you want money on hand for tipping, shopping, etc.
— Pack less! Leave space in your luggage because there is so much fun shopping to do at a fraction of the price. Just don’t forget your swimsuits
Personal growth tips
— Try local yoga studios. Our yoga classes was one of the key highlights from our trip and it was all because of the local practices, connection with the instructor, and how the Balinese practice yoga
— Keep your morning and or night routine, if you don’t have one.. perfect place to create one! My gratitude practice grounded me in tourist filled areas that were built for instagram posts that were chaotic and took from the experience and the rest of the time – nature filled in 🌿
— Nature in Bali is seriously heavenly, and I highly suggest using your time there to connect with yourself and life. The waterfalls were especially my favorite – swimming in the waterfall was top 3 moments and for my next trip I’ll plan it to be nature filled too because as fun as restaurants and day parties might be, I can do those things anywhere else especially being in the United States
