In this week’s video, we explored Toronto’s incredibly diverse food scene with our very own DIY food tour!

As always, we started the day with a little caffeine. Our first stop was Forget Me Not Coffee, a Korean-run café where we grabbed a dalgona coffee and a banana bread matcha.

From there, we headed to Roto Mahal Indian Cuisine to try a Toronto classic: the butter chicken roti. After nearly burning our mouths off with spicy curry, we took a stroll through Toronto’s Chinatown and stopped at Corner Crepe Co. for a jiangbing.

Our next stop was St. Lawrence Market, where we tried the iconic peameal bacon sandwich from Carousel Bakery. Naturally, we couldn’t leave without something sweet, so we picked up some seriously indulgent butter tarts from Future Cafe.

We then made our way to Dundas Square – a particularly special stop for us, as it was where we first met nearly 13 years ago. From there, we hopped on a train and made a quick stop at JREW’s for some delicious Jamaican beef patties.

Of course, no Canadian food tour would have been complete without one of the country’s most iconic chip flavours: ketchup! 🇨🇦

After our savoury snack, we continued through Koreatown. Along the way, we couldn’t resist popping into one of the many Korean shops in the area, Hodo Kwaja, where we tried a sweet Korean pancake known as hotteok.

Our next stop was Sushi on Bloor, which held another special place in our story. It was where we shared our very first meal together! But this visit wasn’t just about the nostalgia. We ordered a salmon sushi pizza, another uniquely Toronto creation that has become a local favourite.

To finish off our DIY food tour, we headed to our favourite Toronto dive bar, Sneaky Dee’s. What better way to end a day of eating our way around the city than with $4 happy hour beers and half-price fajitas?
