Originally called ‘The Blue Stane’ after a glacial rock of Dolomite that sat in the pub’s beer garden.
The stone has been in the town since the 16th century and was said to offer good luck, with the armies Pikeman touching it on the way to the Battle of Bannockburn.
It was also reputed to have been the coronation stone of King Kenneth McAlpine who united the kingdoms of the Scots and the Picts in 843.
Whilst other, less likely, legends say that it was thrown from Drumcarrow by a giant or according to local folklore it is a favourite place for the gathering of fairies.
These days it is a lively Irish themed bar and a perfect place to end the route
