Located on one of Liverpool’s original ‘seven streets’, Tithebarn street takes its name from the Thithe Barn built by Lord Molyneux in 1524 on this site.
By 1820 the barn had gone and, to accommodate the industrial revolution, the street was widened as the area’s population exploded.
By 1842 there we 18 licenced premises on the road as ‘beer vaults’ became a common sight.
It was around this time that the first evidence of this pub appeared under the license of High Skellern, however its name after this remains a mystery until it was called Spirit Vaults in 1860, and then The Revolving Lamp 1894. Later it was taken over and renamed Walker’s by Peter Walker and his son.
One of the few surviving buildings from the bombings of World War Two, it became Shenanigans in 1997 when it was opened by three McDonald’s brothers who had moved to the city.
