In this video, we will show you the oldest bar in New York. Neir’s Tavern is a legendary bar that dates back over 190 years to 1829! You may recognize this bar from the classic movie Goodfellas. Neir’s Tavern was also in Anthony Bourdain’s Queens episode of Parts Unknown with current owner Loy Gordon, who has done a great job restoring this historic bar for the past 11 years.
**UPDATE: An agreement was reached to keep Neir’s Tavern open!**
Of course, we had to have a drink and ate some of their tasty bar food, including the Goodfellas burger and an order of wings.
We are hoping for the best for a last minute miracle here. But, we also made this video to encourage all of you to support your local businesses and spots while you still can. You never know when they may disappear forever.
