How much does healthcare cost in Puerto Vallarta?
A 75 minute physical cost me 600 pesos, roughly 35 US dollars. A visit with the top dermatologist in PV ran about 64 US dollars. Full blood work with a hormone panel was 200 US dollars.
Do I need health insurance to live in Mexico?
Not necessarily. I carry catastrophic coverage only, which costs 1,100 US dollars a year for two people, and I pay out of pocket for everything else. Expat health insurance is available if you prefer it.
What is the weather like in Puerto Vallarta?
November to April is dry season, around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius with blue skies and low humidity. Summer is hot, humid and rainy, and most people run air conditioning about six months a year.
Does Puerto Vallarta get hurricanes?
Rarely. The Bay of Banderas is the third largest bay in the world and the Sierra Madre mountains push most storms north or south.
Where should I live in Puerto Vallarta?
It depends on what you want. The city has Fluvial, Versalles, Centro, Zona Romantica and Conchas Chinas. North you have Nuevo Nayarit for golf, Bucerias for walkability and beach, La Cruz for a small town and a marina, and Punta de Mita for luxury.
Is Puerto Vallarta LGBTQIA friendly?
It is the number one LGBTQIA relocation, retirement and tourism destination in Latin America. Hormone therapy and trans medical care are available here with no stigma.
