Kuta Lombok is often described as a less developed, less touristy and more affordable alternative to Bali — but there are definitely two sides to this destination. Some moments had us saying, “This is beautiful!” while others had us wondering if what you see online tells the whole story.
In this video, we take you beyond the picture-perfect drone shots and explore several beaches around Kuta Lombok to show you what they actually look and feel like on the ground. Some absolutely lived up to the photos, while others surprised us for very different reasons.
We also explore Kuta itself, experience the developing Mandalika area, and discover something we definitely weren’t expecting to find here. Is Kuta Lombok still mainly a destination for surfers and backpackers, or is it becoming a genuine alternative to Bali for other travellers too?
