I was NOT ready for Whitehaven Beach 🇦🇺 — the whitest sand and clearest water I’ve ever seen in my life.
Day 3 of my Brisbane to Darwin road trip with a stranger I met on Facebook. After a terrible night in the tent (sore back, neck pain, something crawling around us), we drove to Airlie Beach and caught the Whitsundays boat tour to Whitehaven Beach. Hiked to the lookout (with a snake scare!), spent time on that insane sand, had boat lunch, then snorkeled the fringing reef at Chalky’s Beach off Hazelwood Island — camera died at 3%.

After a rough night sleeping in a tent, the next leg of my journey took me to Airlie Beach to catch a boat for a full day of exploring the islands.
