Pros: The goblet squat, being a front loaded squat, is much more comfortable to some people than other squat variations and because of this allows the individual to sink down lower into deeper knee and hip flexion so there is a mobility benefit.

It’s an easy exercise to perform at home or a hotel gym because you just need a dumbbell or kettlebell.

Because it’s front loaded, has some secondary strengthening effects of the core and upper body.

Cons: If not done in the correct order, the upper body will be a limiting factor and the individual won’t get a proper stimulus on the legs.

This is both in terms of how long you can hold the bell, but also how heavy you can go. A lot of gyms don’t have heavy dumbbells. However, this is remedied by splitting the weight into 2 dumbbells and doing a front squat.

If someone has a 315lb squat though, there just won’t be a 1 to 1 comparison on the legs.

Still a great leg exercise if done in the correct order.
