Is Ferrari cutting cost on wiring?

There are things you’d think you just can’t save on. For example… Ferrari.

But even Ferrari has decided to look for ways to cut costs these days. The reason is rather unexpected. The company is gradually switching from copper wiring to aluminum.

Why is everyone suddenly talking about some wires? Because copper has become so expensive that automakers are starting to look for alternatives litteraly inside the car. Aluminum is cheaper and lighter. But it’s trickier to work with.

And while such solutions were previously more common in budget cars, now premium manufacturers are starting to use them too.
This isn’t just a story about Ferrari. This is a story about the global car industry. When one company changes such a basic component, others will watch closely.

Most people think a car gets more expensive because of screens, autopilot, or fancy tech. In reality, sometimes it all comes down to… the cost of metal. The car looks more high-tech, while engineers are busy figuring out how to save a few kilos of copper.

It is kind of funny 🙂 Next time someone tells you that a Ferrari got lighter thanks to an engineering genius… maybe some of that credit goes to the accounting department.
