Manchester’s Secret Hidden Food Spots

Manchester is full of unbelievable food hiding in places you would never expect.

In this video, I’m exploring some of Manchester’s best secret and hidden food spots, from shawarma inside a working post office to New York-style pizza in an old taxi rank, fresh Turkish lahmacun in the back of a grocery store and Pakistani stuffed parathas at a car wash forecourt.

This is the side of Manchester food I love most. Not polished restaurants, not obvious TikTok hype spots, but proper local scran hidden in plain sight. Tiny kitchens, odd locations, family businesses, fresh bread, grilled meat, pizza by the slice, Turkish flatbreads, parathas, curry, chai and the kind of places you only find if someone local tells you where to look.

I start at Post Box Shawarma in Chorlton, a shawarma spot inside a working post office. It is one of the strangest and best hidden food spots in Manchester, serving Arabic shawarma, grilled meat, fresh bread, garlic sauce, chilli sauce and proper messy kebabs from a place that looks like you should be posting a parcel.

Then I head to McKeown’s Slices in Levenshulme, a New York-style slice shop inside an old taxi rank. Big foldable pizza slices, crispy bases, proper cheese, simple toppings and one of the best examples of Manchester turning a tiny forgotten space into something brilliant.

After that, I visit Chorlton Food Store, where they make fresh Turkish lahmacun and flatbreads in the back of a grocery shop. It is part supermarket, part bakery, part hidden food counter, serving hot Turkish bread, lahmacun and proper fresh food from behind the shop.

Finally, I go to Paratha Hut in Levenshulme, a tiny Pakistani food spot on a car wash forecourt. Fresh stuffed parathas, curry, chai, desi food and one of the best cheap eats in Manchester, hidden behind a car wash on Stockport Road.

This is a proper Manchester hidden food tour, showing the secret restaurants, takeaway counters, back-of-shop kitchens and local food spots that make the city’s food scene so special.

If you’re looking for where to eat in Manchester, the best hidden food spots in Manchester, cheap eats, local restaurants, shawarma, pizza, Turkish lahmacun, Pakistani parathas or food places you would never normally find, this video is for you.
