Fans of Clue (1985) and The Perfect Host (2010) cannot miss this locked-room dark comedy thriller. A sinister satire on the thin veneer of bourgeois civility, directed by Italian-born filmmaker Leonardo Foti.
It’s a special night for the Buoitton Family. Charles and Linda, extremely wealthy couple, invite their closest friends and family members to dinner. The opulent gathering devolves into an existential survival nightmare when the host reveals a terrifying predicament: every guest in attendance has been administered a lethal, slow-acting poison. To secure the lone dose of antidote, the desperate group is given exactly one hour to deliberate and select a single individual among them to sacrifice. As the countdown elapses, the manic instinct for self-preservation strips away decorum, forcing each attendee to unveil shameful secrets and moral failings in a bid to prove their life holds superior value.
Anchoring the escalating madness are seasoned performances from Hollywood veterans Ed Asner (seven-time Emmy winner) and Sean Young (Blade Runner, No Way Out), who bring an anchor of weary cynicism and volatile, grand-guignol elegance to the tragicomic ensemble. Adding another layer of cinematic lineage to the ensemble is supporting cast member Jennifer Candy, daughter of legendary comedy icon John Candy.
