Bhogapuram International Airport (Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport) has been officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, marking a historic milestone in the state’s infrastructure development. Located at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district, near Visakhapatnam, the greenfield international airport is expected to become a major gateway for North Andhra.
Developed at an investment of around ₹5,640 crore, the airport has been built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and is designed to handle 6 million passengers annually in Phase 1, with expansion plans to accommodate up to 40 million passengers in the future. The project also includes a cargo terminal, cold-chain facilities, and future aviation-related infrastructure, creating significant opportunities for exports, logistics, tourism, and industrial growth
