📍This iconic cocktail bar in East Village is located behind a wooden phone booth from the 1940s inside of the hot dog shop Crif Dogs. The mystery and intrigue surrounding this place make it a quintessential speakeasy: once you call from the payphone, you will find a cozy little place with dim lighting, vintage decor and crafted unpretentious cocktails.
🏆It’s widely known for its James Beard award winning bar program that remains very impressive, unique and well thought out up until this day despite the bar being opened for over 15 years.
☎️Given it’s a very small place, you want to make a reservation ahead of time. Although they do accept walk-ins, the bar gets packed fast right from the opening so I wouldn’t count on that.
