Speaking at the BRICS Business Forum 2026, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the growing importance of BRICS in global trade and India’s role in intra-BRICS commerce.
Goyal said engineering goods and electronics form the largest segment of India’s manufactured exports, while India is also known as the “pharmacy of the world.”
He urged BRICS member states and partner countries to open their markets, simplify regulatory procedures and facilitate faster clearance of consignments to boost trade and economic cooperation.
Goyal also described BRICS as an important market for Indian products and a platform through which India can engage with the world as a trusted partner.
