When Philip MacSorley acquired the ‘Clan Vaults’ in 1897, which had stood since 1861, he commissioned a new building that opened just two years later.
It quickly gained a reputation as a popular restaurant and cocktail bar, as well as offering its own ‘Peacemaker Whisky.
After briefly being renamed ‘Montego Bar’ in the 1980’s it reverted to its original name and underwent a major refurbishment in the 2010’s.
It was awarded the title of the Best Pub in Glasgow in 2025 and the mezzanine is a great spot to watch the action below.
