Originally called the Cross Keys when it was established in 1858, before which it was a coaching inn known as Stewert’s Hotel.
This one room, tiny pub is popular with locals and has one of the largest whisky collections in Scotland. Pay attention to the ribbons around the necks of each bottle as they are a unique labelling system to highlight the price of the bottle.
I bumped into two chaps here who had escaped a shopping trip with their wives to sit outside and try the whisky tasting board of six varieties. They were on their second board and we will meet them again later.
