@lovestoryfx put @theodeonnyc back at the center of the dinner table conversation this spring. But downtown has never really needed the reminder.
It opened in 1980, before the McNally name meant anything in the New York City restaurant world, decades before @balthazarny or @pastisnyc.
Keith @keithmcnallynyc was a thirty-year-old first-time restaurateur, and the neighborhood was still warehouses. Within a few years the room had become downtown’s dining room, and the neon sign out front made the cover of Bright Lights, Big City, which is how a Tribeca brasserie ended up on the bookshelf of everyone who came of age in that decade.
Forty-five years on, the sign is still lit.
