Everyone told us China has no beaches. Then we got to Yalong Bay in Sanya and found an absolutely massive stretch of sand, proper surf, and islands on the horizon. That was only the start of it.
We spent the day exploring Yalong Bay on foot before hiring a scooter with a sidecar for 3 hours, and it cost us 20 bucks. Best money we spent on the whole trip. We cruised past the St Regis, got lost in the markets, found beer on tap, an Indian bloke making fresh roti in China, a kids store called B.Duck, and an indoor scuba training centre we still cannot explain.
Then on our last day we walked into a show at Atlantis Sanya with no idea what we were in for. I looked at the curtain and told Danny we had wasted our money. The curtain went up and it was a full underwater stage behind glass. I have never seen anything like it. Book the centre seats, go during the day, and haggle on the tickets because they will come down.
