Visitamos dos de las catedrales más importantes de Dublín, Irlanda: St. Patrick’s Cathedral y Christ Church Cathedral, recorriendo sus interiores y descubriendo siglos de historia, arquitectura y arte.
Comenzamos en St. Patrick’s Cathedral, la Catedral Nacional de la Iglesia de Irlanda y la catedral más grande del país. Recorremos su nave, transeptos y Lady Chapel, además de conocer monumentos como el de la familia Boyle y la famosa Puerta de la Reconciliación. También visitamos la tumba de Jonathan Swift, autor de Los viajes de Gulliver, quien fue deán de la catedral entre 1713 y 1745.
Después caminamos por esta zona histórica de Dublín hasta llegar a Christ Church Cathedral, cuyos orígenes se remontan a una iglesia vikinga fundada alrededor del año 1030 por el rey nórdico Sitriuc y el obispo Dúnán.
En Christ Church descubrimos su arquitectura medieval y algunos de sus elementos históricos más curiosos. La catedral alberga también la famosa cripta medieval, considerada la estructura más antigua de Dublín todavía en uso, además del conocido gato y la rata momificados.
