We start with the latest on the impact of the war in Iran on the vital Strait of Hormuz which has been causing widespread disruption to the global economy. After days of US President Trump complaining about other countries not helping to overcome Iran’s blockade, the US military has announced it used some of its most powerful bombs to target Iranian missile sites near the vital waterway.
Iran though has threatened to further tighten its grip on the Strait. The country’s foreign minsiter Abbas Aragchi has said the global repurcussions of the conflict have only just begun, warning they will hit all regardless of wealth or race. Here in London, the International Maritime Organisation will hold an extraordinary session later today, to discuss the disruption to shipping from the conflict.
I’m joined now by the Secretary General of the IMO – Arsenio Dominguez
