A bitter trade war between Canada and the United States is escalating rapidly following the collapse of negotiations at the midnight deadline. CTV’s Jeremie Charron reports that U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy believes it is foolish to fight the incoming administration over border tariffs. Former U.S. vice president Mike Pence and several American business groups are pushing back against the escalating costs for American consumers. Prime Minister Mark Carney is promising to enact dollar-for-dollar retaliatory measures starting in September.
