Katz’s Delicatessen pastrami on rye, 205 E Houston St, Lower East Side, New York.
The pastrami is ridiculously tender and piled absurdly high on two slices of rye. About four bites in it stops being a sandwich and you finish it with a fork. Around 30 bucks. Expensive, and I get the hype. 8/10.
I paid $28.95 for this sandwich. Katz’s menu lists it at $30.95 now.
Every sandwich at Katz’s is hand-carved to order at the counter… no slicer. You take a ticket at the door, hand it to your carver, and pay on the way out.
