I’ve been hearing a lot about Sanwits, a new shop in the East Village that uses Filipino ingredients and flavors to build big, over-stuffed sandwiches.
I tried two menu items while I was there: the Lechon Dip and the Spam Sanwits, two favorites of chef-partner Eric Valdez
There is a city-wide crisis going on right now involving sandwich prices. It’s hard to find a sandwich in New York for less than $20 bucks, especially at a new hyped-up shop in lower Manhattan.
So when I see a mound of pork that can barely be contained by two slices of bread, and they are only charging $15, I call that a good deal. Plus these guys are making their own SPAM from scratch!
Check out Sanwits and let ‘em know The Rec Team sent you!
