It has always been Siana’s mum’s dream to visit Yellowstone National Park and see a bear in the wild… and it’s been one of our dreams too. 🥹🐻🇺🇸 So on this trip, we finally got to experience Yellowstone together and what happened on our second day made the entire trip.
On Day 1, we took on Yellowstone’s Lower Loop, visiting some of the most iconic places in the park including Grand Prismatic Spring, Old Faithful, West Thumb Geyser Basin, Hayden Valley and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. 🌋🏔️
The scenery was absolutely incredible, but despite keeping our eyes peeled all day, we didn’t see any bears and actually didn’t see as much wildlife as we’d hoped.
So on Day 2, we decided to do things differently…
We woke up SUPER early and headed towards Lamar Valley after hearing that it was one of the best places in Yellowstone to see wildlife — especially bears and wolves. We were completing the Upper Loop this time, and almost as soon as we entered the park we were greeted by a lone bison and one of the most beautiful sunrises we’ve seen. 🦬🌅
Eventually we made it all the way to Lamar Valley.
We drove through the entire valley searching for wildlife… but apart from plenty of bison, there was no sign of the bears or wolves we had been hoping for.
We decided to turn around.
And THAT is when everything changed. 👀🐻
On our way back through Lamar Valley, we suddenly spotted a huge crowd of people gathered at the side of the road. Obviously we had to stop and find out what everyone was looking at…
IT WAS A BEAR.
We couldn’t believe it. Siana’s mum had finally seen a bear in the wild in Yellowstone National Park. ❤️
It wasn’t until later, after speaking to a guide who was in the area, that we discovered what we had actually been watching…
