Born in France, raised in Portugal, and over here a “road trip” is three hours to the next city and a pastel de nata. In California? Death Valley, Palm Springs, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Big Sur, Sequoia… deserts, beaches, Hollywood, giant trees, and mountains that look fake. In this reaction I watch a full California travel guide break down the best places to visit… and yeah. Europe does not pack this much, even into several countries.
Let’s be honest. Most countries pick one vibe and stick to it. California does film industry, national parks, the Golden Gate, the American Riviera, and the world’s largest tree like it’s normal. And that’s the thing about America. Sometimes an entire state can feel like ten countries stapled together.
