Although the video showed then entering the pub through a tiny red door (in a building by the Spanish Arch) it was this pub where Saoirse Ronan and Ed Sheeran were seen dancing in the video of his hit song ‘Galway Girl.’

Originally established as a grocery store in 1862, the main bar has retained many of its original fixtures such as the small bar, tiling, lighting, and glasswork, all under an ornate pressed tin ceiling.

Fully converted into a pun in the 1970’s, it winds through, past a replica sweet shop, it opens out into a large beer garden that is affectionately known as ‘Gin Lane’ and is laid out to resemble a Victorian Street.

I absolutely adored The Dough Bros pizza at the back of the garden and its not surprising as they were voted Ireland’s best pizzas and the 15th in the world at a special competition in Naples.
