Named after the Irish revolutionary who was born in 1778 and was a celebrated for his defiant speech, including the lines “Let no man write my epitaph… until my country takes her place among the nations of the earth.” as he was tried for High Treason.
Romanticised as a national hero by Irish communities across the US, with statues in Washington DC, San Francisco, and Boston he met a gruesome end when he was hanged and beheaded at the age of just 25 neat St. Catherine’s Church in Dublin.
