Out of all the national parks in the USA, this one is the most mind-blowing!
📍Denali National Park in Alaska, USA
This is Alaska’s most visited national park BUT only 30% of visitors see Denali! This is because the mountain is often covered in clouds.
We spent 5 days here when we visited Alaska – here is everything you need to know about the park 👇
🚐Passenger vehicles are only allowed to drive the first 15 miles of the Denali Park road. After that, you must hop on a bus to explore the rest of the park.
🟢Book a spot on the GREEN bus if you want to hop on and off and hike along the park road. These buses are not tours.
🟤Book a spot on the tan/BROWN bus if you want a more tour-style ride through the park. You cannot get off and hike from this bus.
Right now, buses ONLY go to mile 43. The road is closed past that point due to a landslide.
🥾For hikes, we recommend Mount Healy and Savage River Loop. These are both before mile 15 on the park road.
We also hiked at the end of the park road at mile 43.
🏕️There are a few campgrounds in the park. We stayed at the Teklanika Campground at mile 29 on the park road. This allowed us to drive past mile 15 in our own vehicle and it was really cool to do!
🏨There are many hotels outside the park entrance but these places do book up early.
🍻Don’t miss 49th State Brewery near the park for incredible food and beer!
🐻This park is home to bears, moose, sheep, etc – always be aware of your surroundings and carry bear spray.
