❄️ South Coast Iceland, Jökulsárlón, Diamond Beach & Northern Lights: What’s In This Episode
Welcome back to Iceland with Latha & Prem Around The World! In Part 4 of our Iceland travel vlog, we hit the iconic Ring Road to explore the breathtaking wonders of Iceland’s South Coast. Our scenic drive begins across the vast, moss-covered Eldhraun Lava Field—the world’s largest volcanic moss field created by the historic Laki eruption. Along the way, we pass the cascading Síðu Waterfall and admire the legendary rock cliff, Mount Lómagnúpur.
As we approach Vatnajökull National Park, we witness majestic outlet glaciers including Svínafellsjökull Glacier right alongside the glacier highway. We then reach one of Iceland’s greatest natural wonders: Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Watch massive, electric-blue icebergs break off the glacier and drift peacefully across Iceland’s deepest lake toward the Atlantic Ocean. Right across the road, we explore Diamond Beach, where crystal-clear icebergs wash ashore and glisten like diamonds against the pitch-black volcanic sand.
Finally, after checking in at the scenic Hotel Katla near Vík, we cap off our day by hunting and witnessing the magical Northern Lights dancing across the Arctic night sky for the very first time!
