We stayed one night at The RuMa Hotel and Residences, a Malaysian luxury boutique hotel and One Michelin Key recipient, located right in the heart of KL’s Golden Triangle. We actually walked over from the Grand Hyatt – that’s how central this area is.
We booked a Grand Studio room for RM1,296 (around $300 USD), which included complimentary breakfast and a four-course dinner for two at ATAS, the hotel’s signature contemporary Malaysian fine dining restaurant. When you factor in what’s included, the value here is really solid.
The hotel itself is inspired by Malaysia’s tin mining heritage and colonial past, from the terracotta Birdcage entrance to the copper lobby ceiling and the golden kebaya sculpture. It’s unlike any other hotel we’ve stayed at in KL.
Since it was my birthday, the hotel surprised us with a complimentary cake, balloons, and a handwritten card in the room. I’m just a first-time guest with no status – the hospitality here was genuinely unexpected and heartwarming.
