The European Union and India have concluded a free-trade agreement after almost two decades of negotiations to deepen economic ties.
The agreement creates a free trade zone and is expected to double EU goods exports to India by 2032, with both sides set to eliminate or cut tariffs on a majority of shipments.
The pact is expected to give India a competitive edge in exporting labor-intensive goods and provides concessions across services sectors, with the EU and India also growing closer on the defense front through a new security partnership.
